It's been a months since the new year started, and things are still so confusing, so frenzied and distraught. The pandemic is yet to get over. And yet, it is extremely disheartening that in such a situation which calls for unity and mental connection, my fellow netizens are still in a desperate competition with each other- a competition which involves outward appearance, receiving likes and followers and showing off their apparently "perfect life" on social media.
Dear netizens,
- You DO NOT have to get a "New Year Make-over" just because someone from your class got it too.
- You DO NOT have to go out and eat just because someone posted pictures while eating in the posh café in town.
- You DO NOT have to get as many likes, comments and followers as did the other girl from the next lane.
- You DO NOT have to hit the gym or take supplements in order to get that so called "perfect body" because someone doesn't like how you look.
Because sweetheart, lemme remind you that all of this is so superficial, so trivial that it doesn't even matter. But make sure you do all of this, only if you wanna do it for yourself- to make yourself happy and not to please anybody else. Treat yourself in the new restaurant if you want to, gain or lose some weight if that's what you think will make you happy. Read that book, go for a swim, or take a trip- ONLY AND ONLY IF YOU WANT TO!!
And make sure you unfollow all kinds of toxicity and hate out of your social media. Make sure you're all ears when someone wants to talk about their emotions. Make sure you try to cheer up the person who might be feeling low and needs support. Make sure you spread confidence, betterment and love on the internet. Because that's what the social media is about. And that is what will lead to your self-growth and the growth of the other netizens all over the internet! Lots of Love!!
