F.R.I.E.N.D.S- More like a Family

So after watching the reunion of my favorite show today, I couldn't stop blabbering about it to a friend of mine, who has never even watched the show till date. I was so hyped up that he ended up asking, 'But what's so great about it?" It's only when I was explaining it to him that I realized what was indeed so special about my favorite show- F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

It's not very long back that I started watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S for the first time. I was in my eleventh grade when my friends could finally persuade me to start watching a series which had 10 seasons(236 episodes). I mean, never before could I really stick to one series for that long. So the sitcom started and very very surprisingly, just with a few episodes, I was so addicted to it that I could just not stop myself anymore. Being a binge watcher, I would watch for hours everyday, and within just a few months, I had completed watching the whole sitcom. By the time I reached the last episode, F.R.I.E.N.D.S was no longer just a regular show for me; it was way more than that- it had a become an emotion for me. Phoebe, Ross, Joey, Chandler, Monica and Rachel, they were no longer just characters- they were my friends and I seemed to have become a part of their family.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S, a show that narrated the stories of six friends, living in Manhattan, struggling at career and love taught me the importance and value of friendship, what it meant to stay beside them in times of happiness and adversity and how much the support could help in one's growth. And then there was no going back. I kept on repeating the episodes numerous times. I would watch the show when I was happy, I would watch it when I'm sad, because whatever was going on in my life, I knew that F.R.I.E.N.D.S was never gonna fail me. It's been three years now that I have been watching the show, and I have realized that the vibe it gives me each time I watch it is never gonna get old. It's a different kind of happiness each and every time.

The show aired on NBC between 1994 and 2004 and all that the fans could long for was a reunion of the friends. Seventeen years later, when the reunion finally came today, I could not hold my breath anymore. As the characters revisited the set one by one, and Rachel asked where the tissue box was, we could feel the tears and the goosebumps within ourselves as well. It felt like we have been waiting to revisit our family forever, and finally we were there. The characters cried while revisiting their favorite  memories and we cried too. And the very next moment, they came up with surprises that instantly brought a huge grin on our faces. Each time they hugged, we could also feel the warmth. They played games, conducted reviews, invited several other celebs, shared behind the shoot secrets and memories which we had no idea about. The fans told us how much the show means to them and how it has actually affected their lives in real. The reunion made us realize that even the secondary characters are so loved and cherished by us- be it Mr. Heckles, or Janice's OH MY GOD or our handsome Richard. The makers of the show (David Crane and Martha Kauffman) revealed so much- the auditions, the bloopers and indeed a lot about the success and the risks they took to shoot our favorite sitcom.

And then once again it was all over. The best reunion in the world was indeed over. It was the reunion that we have been waiting for forever, the reunion that gave us a chance to interact with a very own family that was so close to our heart, the reunion that had the power to make us laugh and cry and scream in awe at the very same time. We do not know if the friends are ever gonna meet like this again. We do not know if there will be another such reunion. But what we surely surely know, is that whatever it might be, the F.R.I.E.N.D.S family will always be precious and will continue to have a very special place in our hearts. Could I be any happier???😌❤️
